Dance to charge your mobile

Dance to charge your mobileNews brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of price comparison for cheap international calls.

Festival goers need not worry when their phone battery has died and they can’t contact their friends to ask directions for their tent.

All they have to do is dance.

Orange has launched the prototype for a mobile phone charger that is powered by the kinetic energy the user generates while dancing.

The Orange Dance Charge was developed in conjunction with renewable energy specialists GotWind.

It is not clear whether pumping house or heavy rock will charge a phone faster, but some details have been released.

The device, which is to be tested at Glastonbury, weighs 180 grams and is about the size of a pack of cards.

Hattie Magee, head of partnerships at Orange said: “We wanted to create a fun, engaging and interactive product which would encourage users to have a laugh while charging their mobile phone and at the same time tout a new energy efficient charging prototype."
